Borderway Store & Weanling Cattle Sale

At Borderway Mart on Wednesday 17th June, Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their weekly sale of store and weanling cattle.

STORE CATTLE:  A marvelous entry of 602 store cattle forward and a good trade was achieved for all classes. A very good turnout of prospective purchasers meant vendors watching online were delighted with their returns. Top overall was a quality British Blue cross heifer from Messrs Dickinson, Low Howe, Wigton and purchased by John Little. Messrs Graham, Carleton Hill Farm, Carlisle sold another to £1350. Limousin crosses from Messrs Potts, Chapel House, Brampton sold to £1345. Steers peaked at £1345 for Messrs Dickinson, High House, Wigton and £1325 for more from Messrs Stamper, Rose Farm, Cockermouth. Salers crosses from Messrs Horn, Barton Dale, Penrith sold to £1280. Charolais to £1220 from Messrs Graham, Hillhead, Canonbie. More could have been sold to vendors advantage.

WEANED CATTLE:  A good show of 245 stirks were forward with all classes in great demand. Messrs Henshall, Sarkshields sold two Limousin bulls for £1280. Messrs Tallentire, High Griseburn sold two Simmental bulls for £1220. Messrs Rennie & Son, Sydenham Farm sold a Limousin bull for £1190. Heifers sold to £1275 and £1125 from Iain Graham, Rise Castle Farm. Messrs Harrison & Son, Sleddale Hall sold a Limousin x bullock for £1010.
