Borderway Store & Weanling Cattle

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd had forward 983 head at their Weekly Wednesday Cattle Sale at Borderway comprising of 696 Catalogued Store Cattle, Un-entered Store Bulls and Stirks and 287 Calves.

All classes continued to sell well before a busy ringside of buyers.

STORE CATTLE – A very good entry of 509 store cattle forward with trade remaining very good on the week although cattle that looked weathered would be harder to cash.  Top overall was a Limousin cross steer from Messrs Bowman, Croft House, Penrith achieving £1280.  Messrs Beaty, Durdar, Carlisle sold British Blues to £1250, Charolais to £1170 from Messrs Johnstone, Westray, Cockermouth and Aberdeen Angus to £1120 from Messrs Coulthard, Brisco Hall, Carlisle.  Heifers sold to a top of £1200 from Messrs Bowman, Croft House, Penrith.  Many more could have been sold but please advise entries to Main Office for next weeks catalogued sale.

WEANED CATTLE: A smaller show of 187 weanlings were forward with quality in demand.  Messrs Rutter, Far Town run of outstanding cattle topped at £1090 (x2) £1085 and £1080, £1050 and £1030 for Limousin x bullocks.  Heifers from the same good home sold for £1070.  Messrs Wilson, Scales Farm sold the top priced Charolais bull for £1060.
