Borderway Weekly Sale of Calves

On Wednesday 21st August, Harrison & Hetherington Limited held their weekly sale of young calves. A large show of 353 calves were forward and all classes were a similar trade to previous weeks with strong continental calves slightly sharper. The sale topped at £540 on two occasion, firstly for a sharpey suckler bred Limousin from Chapel House Farm and secondly for a suckler bred Charolais bull from Messrs Stewart, Halldykes, Lockerbie. Strong black and white calves continue to be in high demand topping at £248 for a pen of 3 Holstein Friesians from Messrs Fisher, Smalmstown Farm, Longtown.
