BorderwayStore and Weaned Cattle Sale

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd had forward over 1750 cattle at their Weekly Wednesday Cattle Sale at Borderway, comprising of 1204 Catalogued Store Cattle, Un-entered Store Bulls and Stirks, 348 Calves and 198 Dairy Cattle forward for the Border & Lakeland Holstein and coloured Club Sale.

Borderway was a hive of activity with over 200 vendors showing cattle and in excess of 200 active buyers operating, ensuring all classes met a very keen enquiry.

STORE CATTLE – At the weekly sale of store cattle attracted a bumper entry of 822 head.

Once again the ringside at Borderway was packed with potential purchasers with many new faces.  This resulted in one of the best trades of the season with all classes of cattle being met with great demand.  The sale topped at £1400 for an outstanding Limousin x heifer shown by J D Bowman, Croft House, Penrith.  Bullocks sold to £1335 again for a fabulous Limousin x, this time shown by D A Craik, Redcastle Farm, Castle Douglas who sold 65 cracking Limousin bullocks and heifers in his run.  Many more cattle required to satisfy demand.

WEANERS- A larger show of 381 weanlings were forward with the usual buyers around the ring with trade as good as last week.  Messrs Clegg & Bennett, Tongue House run of cattle topped at £990 for a 10 month old Limousin x heifer.  Messrs Bousfield & Sons,  Holme Farm sold the top priced Blonde x bullock at 12 months of age for £970.  Messrs Mattinson & Son, Burthwaite sold the top priced Charolais bull at £980 at 11 months of age.
