Broughton Annual Sale of Herdwick and Swaledale Rams

On Tuesday 29th September, Harrison and Hetherington held their Annual sale of Herdwick and Swaledale rams, within Broughton Auction Mart.

Topping the Herdwick section was noted breeder Antony Hartley, Turner Hall, selling a 2shear 2shear for 4800gns.

Herdwick rams were in great demand, with an overall average of £420.88 being achieved and a 86% clearance. Eight rams sold to 1000gns and over.

In the Swaledale section a top price of £1000 was achieved twice, firstly by JD & M Capstick, Whicham and secondly by Messrs Edmondson Ltd, Low Hall Farm

Swaledale rams were a flying trade, resulting in a 87% clearance and an average of £307.93 up £46.31 on the year.
