At Broughton Mart on Tuesday 17th April Harrison & Hetherington held their highly anticipated annual “April Fair” show and sale of 400 store and breeding cattle.
A larger show of cattle came forward, this in turn attracted several new buyers and with a great show in terms of quality, this accumulated in a fantastic trade for all classes.
The pre sale show was kindly judged by Mr Luke Ashford, Bedale, who awarded the championship to a fantastic Limousin cross heifer consigned by Messrs A Hartley, Turner Hall, which later went on to sell to £1180 to Mr Martin Wilcock, Wigan. Messrs Hartley also consigned the Reserve champion and the 1st prize Limousin bullock which sold to £1100 to Mr David Barker, Scarborough.
Topping the sale at £1315 was a pair of cracking Limousin cross Friesian bullocks from Messrs Hoggarth, Far Kiln Bank who also topped the heifer section with another Limousin cross which sold to £1300.
All vendors left highly delighted with Broughton back at its best.
