At Broughton Mart on Tuesday 1st May, Harrison & Hetherington held their opening sale of ewes and lambs within Broughton Mart seeing a mixed show of 452 forward.
The sale attracted an entry of weathered sheep as a result of the hard winter but trade proved very promising seeing all sheep very well bid for.
Top price of the day was for a pen of Suffolk cross ewes with Texel lambs at foot from Messrs Brocklebank, Bank Head, Haverigg topping the sale at £74 a life which also went on to top the units at £213 for the pen with twins at foot.
Fell bred sheep also sold very well seeing Herdwick ewes selling up to £37 a life for twins from Messrs Wilson, Parsonage, Millom.
The next sale of ewes and lambs will take place on Tuesday 15th May, for any queries regarding sales or entries please do not hesitate to contact the auctioneers David Fearon on 07764 573436 or James Little on 07872 840685.
