Broughton Christmas Primestock Show and Sale

3rd December 2018

The Annual show and Sale of Christmas Primestock and store cattle was held on Monday 3rd December, at Broughton Auction Mart, whereby a large crowd of supporters was in attendance.

CATTLE: The cattle section was judged by Mr William Barker, Scarborough who awarded the Championship to the 1st prize Continental cross bullock which was a great British Blue consigned by NA & J Temple, Balckhall Farm, and later topped the section at £1200.

The Reserve Champion was the 1st prize heifer from Messrs N Cooper & Sons, Troughton Hall which sold for £1040 and was purchased by the Judge.

The 1st prize cow from Messrs Cooper, a British Blue, topped the cow section at £1221.48, also purchased by the Judge.

PRIME SHEEP: The sheep section was judged by Mr Chris Staines, Kepak, Wales, awarded the Championship to Messrs A & C Park, Sea View, St Bees with their pen of five Texel cross lambs which topped the sale at £109 per head, selling to Wilson butchers, Egremont, these topped at 218ppk.
