On Tuesday 28th May Harrison & Hetherington held their end of season sale of ewes and lambs within Broughton Mart.
Another great entry of 730 head came forward, with trade for the best remaining good, however, poorer quality sorts saw a lesser enquiry.
A sale which contained 97% entry of hill sheep, were predominantly broken mouthed, averaged £32.14 a life, with hill ewes selling to a top of £44.50 for a pen of Cheviot ewes from Messrs GJ & CA Penellum, Swinside, Millom, and Herdwicks to £35 from Messrs LM & C Whitaker, Moorlands Cottage, Kirkby In Furness.
The sale topped at £56 a life for Greyfaced shearlings with Texel cross lambs from Messrs V & S Inman, High Ground Farm, Coniston.
