Broughton Sale of Store and Breeding Sheep

At Broughton Mart on Tuesday 4th September, Harrison & Hetherington their first sale of breeding females and rams, followed by a sale of store lambs.

Rams were met by a fabulous enquiry with only one ram failing to find a new home. Topping the section at £500 was a traditional type Bluefaced Leicester which was consigned by JS Watson, Field Croft, Holmrook and was purchased by Messrs Whittaker, Kirkby In Furness. Aged rams sold to £420 for a Cheviot from Messrs G Wilkinson, Tiberthwaite, Coniston and was purchased by Messrs Dugdale, Coniston.

Breeding ewes topped at £65 for a pen of correct Mules from Messrs Wilson, Broomlea, Kirkby In Furness.

Store lambs were a cracking trade and peaked at £84 for an outstanding pen of Beltex lambs from Messrs LM & C Whittaker, Kirkby In Furness, and was purchased by Tucker Brown, Pennington.
