Broughton Sale of Store & Breeding Sheep

At Broughton Mart on Tuesday 15th May, Harrison & Hetherington held their fortnightly sale of ewes and lambs seeing trade pleasing to all vendors.

Top price of the day went to a pen of Texel cross Meatlinc ewes from Messrs Jackson, Penny Hill, Boot, selling to £69 per life, followed by another tremendous pen selling to £67. This excellent consignment of sheep later went on to average £61.88.

Fell sheep also proved very popular seeing a very keen ring side of buyers all eager for Herdwick and Swaledale ewes and lambs. Herdwicks sold to a top of £48 per outfit from Mr Brian Knowles, Stone Arthur, Kirkby In Furness, with many other pens selling to £40 and over.
