Carlisle Annual Spring Show & Sale of Suckled Calves

21st March 2018

A new centre record of £8000 was set at the annual spring show and sale of continental cross steers and heifers held at Borderway Mart, Carlisle on 21st March.

With a large number of show enthusiasts in attendance calves with show potential met a very strong demand, as buyers competed to find the next Borderway Agri Expo Supreme Champion.

Taking the top price of the day and setting a new centre record was the Supreme Champion entry, a black Limousin cross heifer shown by John & Mandy Smith-Jackson of Hightown, Haltwhistle. Their 11 month old heifer is sired by a home-bred Limousin bull, Hightown Jacko and is bred from an ex-show herd cow.  This eye catching heifer was successfully purchased over the phone by Mr Mike Scott of Besthorpe.
