Carlisle Beef Shorthorn Autumn Sale

The autumn sale of Beef Shorthorn Cattle held at Carlisle on Friday saw a top price of 2700gns for Kramer of Upsall consigned by Gerald Turton. This bull sired by Glengloy Frigate and out of Clipper X431 of Upsall was off to the Isle of Man when he was purchased by Ballaseyr Stud.

The sale also included the dispersal of the Lawns Beef Shorthorn herd on behalf of Helen Ashton and these cattle topped at 1650gns for a 2012 born cow Lawns Frigate sired by Chapelton Wildfire. The successful bidder was Messrs Smith from Laurencekirk.

Also from Helen Ashton’s consignment was Lawns Gertrude, a 2013 born cow sired by Lawns Fine Fellow and she sold for 1500gns to Messrs McDougall, Kilmacolm.

In the non-dispersal female section the maiden heifer Cutthorn Amber’s Lady from AJ Gibson Farming topped at 1600gns. This heifer was sired by Cutthorn Investor and out of Cutthorn Amber’s Jade. She was also purchased by Messrs Smith.

T & K Madden’s Ballyvaddy Tessa K843 sired by Watchman of Upsall was the next best in the price rankings when she went for 1500gns. This 2016 born heifer was purchased by Messrs Falkingham from Goole.
