The annual Beltex Beauties Sale took place at Carlisle on Friday 28th August. This sale, which comprises of entries from 11 noted flocks, saw the gimmer Hackney Elanor from Messrs Tippetts and Williams top at 11,000gns.
Hackney Elanor has quite the pedigree behind her being sired by Airyolland Asulam, who also bred the record price Airyolland Castro, and out of Hackney Crisp a full sister to Hackney Dior who was the joint top price at 5000gns at this sale last year. Elanor is was purchased by Messrs Burleigh from Kinawley, Enniskillen.
The Hackney and Wilodge flocks also sold Wilodge Emerald at 7500gns. Emerald was sired by 65,000gns Airyolland Castro and out of Wilodge Chic the English National Beltex Champion 2018. She was purchased by Lipley Beltex from Market Drayton. Overall the Hackney and Wilodge flocks averaged £3269 for their 11 gimmers sold.
Richard Wood’s Kingledores flock achieved the best average of the day when his 5 gimmers levelled at £5523. They topped at 8500gns for Kingledores Ella, a gimmer sired by Arkle DJ and out of Kingledores Bessy. She was purchased by Messrs Wood from Whittingham, Preston, Lancashire. At 8000gns was Kingledores Ellie, again sired by Arkle DJ and this time out of Kingledores Bianka. Ellie was purchased by Messrs Bowring from Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.
Neale & Janet McQuistin’s Airyolland flock topped at 6800gns and averaged £1869 for their 10 gimmers sold. Best of the pen was their first gimmer in Airyolland Elenore sired by Airyolland Asulam, who also sired the top price Hackney Elanor, and out of Airyolland Wet N Wild. Elenore was purchased by Messrs Stephen & Co from Nairn.
The Buckles & Broxty flock sold their first gimmer in for 5500gns. This was Buckles Emma Lee sired by Heatheryhall Campbell and out of the Dooley Napal daughter Buckles Cork Screw. She was purchased by Messrs McCrabbe from Co Donegal. Buckles Exclusive sold for 4500gns to Messrs Hall from Skipton. This substitute entry was also sired by Heatheryhall Campbell and out of Buckles Capricorn.
R & K William’s Black Jack flock sold Black Jack Esmeralda for 4500gns. She was sired by Baileybrook CR7 and out of Black Jack Whiterashes and the successful purchaser was Messrs Hall from Ainstable, Carlisle. A full sister to Esmeralda, Black Jack Elma sold for 4000gns to Page Farm Partnership.
Stuart Wood’s flock sold to a top of 4000gns for Woodies Enhanced, a daughter of Woodies Cookie Monster and out of Woodies Cleopatra. She was purchased by Messrs Wilkinson from Richmond, North Yorkshire.
Colin Mair was the first consigner in the sale and his first gimmer into the ring sold for 3200gns. Aviemore Esmee was sired by Airyolland Avicii and out of Aviemore Wilma. Esmee was purchased by Messrs Buckle from Kirkby Stephen.
Jock McMillian’s offering from his Clary flock averaged £1533 for the 10 he had forward and sold to a top of 3000gns for Clary Esmelralda sired by Woodwick Chino and out of Clary Willo.
The Ardstewart flock from Wade & Alison McCrabbe sold their top gimmer for 2800gns. This was Ardstewart Erika sired by Belvior View Cadillac Jack and out of Ballycreelly Amber.
Glantre Elderflower, a substitute entry from Messrs Owens’ Llandysul based flock, sold for 2500gns. Elderflower was sired by Ardstewart Comanche and out of Glantre Ayda, a Airyolland Sundance daughter.
Elizabeth McAllister’s offering topped at 1000gns for Artnagullion Esmeralda sired by the 2018 Great Yorkshire Show Champion Belvior View Cadillac Jack and out of the Rathbone Tony daughter Artnagullion Aimee.
