Carlisle Blue Texel ‘Blue Blinders’ Sale

On Saturday the 26th of September the Society held their ‘Blue Blinders Sale’ at Harrison & Hetherington, Borderway Mart, Carlisle. A small offering or rams and females were forward resulting in a top price of 3000gns for a shearling gimmer from Stasa Moyes. Her Saltire Blue (import) was pure Dutch bred and joins Messrs Cormack’s Dunrod flock in the Scottish Borders.

Females continue to lead the way with the second top price of 2000gns. Another shearling gimmer, this time consigned by the Millside flock of Mr David Alexander. This Beili Blues sired daughter out of Hackney Yachi joins local breeder Mr Kevin Watret, Annan.

Next top call on the shearling gimmers came from the Saltire Blue flock, with Saltire Blue Dumpling. She is out of a maternal sister to the flock’s show ewe Saltire A Beauty and sired by Eastbury Cut & Run, she goes across the water to Messrs Hamilton, Co Tyrone for 1600gns.

The Millside pen sold another Beili Blues sired daughter, this time out of a homebred ewe, selling to 1100gns to Messrs Billington, Preston.

Leading the ram section at 720gns was a Millside shearling ram again sired by a Beili Blues ram and out of Jonsland Yazoo, he sold to Messrs Graham, Annan.

The Saltire Blue flock sold the top priced ram lamb for 700gns, Saltire Blue Explosive, a substitute entry, sired by Eastbury Cut & Run and out of an import dam, he found a new home in the Tundergarth Blue flock, of Mr Alastair Dodd.
