Topping the annual Charollais sheep society show and sale held at Carlisle was a ram lamb from Jonathan Aiken’s Carnew flock. This 2nd prize lamb Carnew Urban Cowboy was sired by Knockin Shockin and out of a homebred ewe by Castellau Lord Major. He was purchased by Messrs Jenkinson from Penrith.
Messrs Jenkinson also purchased two rams at 850gns. First of these was the 1st prize shearling ram and Reserve Champion from CW Marwood & Son’s Foulrice flock. This ram 18DG08441 was sired by Dalby Sherman and out of a homebred ewe.
Also from the Foulrice flock was the other to sell at 850gns, this was a substitute entry 18DG08584 sired by Hyde Radio5Live.
Messrs Wales’ Thackwood flock sold the 3rd prize shearling ram Thackwood Tristar for 800gns. Tristar was sired by Greenvale Star and purchased by Messrs Herbert from Barnard Castle.
Jonathon Aiken was responsible for the next two best prices. The first of these was a ram lamb at 800gns also purchased by Messrs Jenkinson. This was another son of Knockin Shockin, Carnew Umpire again out of a homebred ewe this time sired by Wernfawr Prospect.
At 750gns was the shearling Carnew 18ZXJ23179 sired by Glyn Coch Google and again purchased by Messrs Jenkinson.
Messrs Herbert purchased another shearling from the Thackwood flock, Thackwood Tom Tom sired by Loanhead Nailer for 700gns.
The 1st prize ram lamb and Supreme Championship was won by D & J Norman with their Kirkhouse 19XNK02416 sired by Arbryn Philip. He went on to sell for 550gns to Messrs Tucker from Ashlington, West Sussex.
The best of the females was a single ewe lamb sired by Kirkhouse Remo from Alastair Moore’s Hillside flock which sold for 500gns and was purchased by Messrs Morgan from Thirsk, N Yorks.
