Carlisle Charollais Show & Sale

Topping the annual Charollais sheep society show and sale held at Carlisle was a shearling ram from Jonathan Aiken’s Carnew flock. This was 17XEV01149 sired by Wernfawr Nijinsky and out of an Aberkinsey ewe. This shearling sold for 900gns to Messrs Jenkinson from Penrith.

Messrs Wales’ Thackwood  shearling ram 17GU03002 sold for the next best price of 850gns. He was sired by a son of Wernfawr Nijinsky, Wernfawr Red Bull and out of a Logie Durno ewe. The successful bidder was Messrs Herbert from Barnard Castle.

The 1st prize shearling ram and Overall Champion sold for 750gns again to Messrs Jenkinson. Consigned by CW Marwood & Son’s Foulrice flock this shearling 17DG07658 was sired by Foulrice Prelude and out of a homebred dam.

Messrs Herbert purchased another from the Thackwood flock when they bid 700gns for 17GU03040. This shearling was by Loanhead Nailer a prolific sire who has done very well for the flock and also sired the top price shearling at this sale last year.
