Carlisle Jacob Sale

The annual Carlisle Jacob sale as part of Carlisle’s Rare and Minority Breed day saw a top price of £250 for a shearling ram consigned by G Connor & S Dalrymple. Herries Cracker Fred was bred by Alex Herries and sired by Dunmor Crackerjack. This shearling was purchased by Messrs Strang-Steel from Galashiels.

Two ewe lambs from Fiona Thorburn’s Raeknowes flock sold for the next best price of £170, these were both sired by Arkleside Wilf and one was purchased by Messrs Wilkinson from Barnard Castle and the other Messrs Doody from Bardon Mill.

Melanie Harper’s ram lamb Deanburn Daxton sold for £160. Daxton, sired by Hope Rocket had won 3rd prize at the Royal Highland this year and found a new home with Messrs Robb from Argyll.

Best of the shearling gimmers was Margot Smith’s Barrachan 164076 which sold for £150. This gimmer was sired by Fields Flash and out of a homebred ewe. She was purchased on the day by Messrs Barnes from Morpeth.
