The dispersal of the highly regarded Rossiebank flock at Borderway on Monday, drew a packed ringside and saw a great trade averaging at £913.67 for the 124 females forward.
Prices topped at 4800gns for the unbeaten show ewe 840/J110 who was sired by Rossiebank G011 and out of a homebred ewe by Hazelwood 1939/Y001. This 2016 born ewe sold scanned in lamb to 840/J020 and was successfully purchased by Mike Anderson Farming from Ballindalloch, Aberdeenshire.
The same purchaser also bought another ewe by the same sire for 3200gns. This was 840/J108, out of a daughter of Rossiebank ‘Elite Plus’ 840/B001 and another to be sold in lamb to 840/J020.
At 3500gns was 840/H057 sired by 840/E011 and out of D055, a daughter of Hazelwood ‘Elite Plus’ 1939/A002 she again sold in lamb to J020 and was purchased by Messrs Forster & Son from Lowgate, Hexham.
A total of five animals sold for 3000gns, this first of these was 840/H049, a 2015 born ewe sired by E011 who was purchased by Messrs Johnson from Bishop Auckland. She was followed closely by another good breeding ewe H082, who had bred the top two ram lambs that sold at the breed sale in Carlisle last year. This ewe was off to join the Whinnyhall flock of Messrs Quinn, Lochgelly.
The final ewe to sell at this price was 840/J107, another by G011 and scanned in lamb to J020 this ewe was purchased by Messrs Proctor to join their Aberdeenshire based flock.
The best of the ewe hoggs and also selling at 3000gns was the first to go through the ring 840/L058 sired by E011 and out of the G011 daughter 840/J118 and purchased by Messrs Baynes from Inverness.
There were two stock rams on offer from the flock and it was a 2018 born son of the top price ewe who achieved the top price of 3000gns. 840/L015 was sired by Burndale 65/J002 and out of the unbeaten show ewe J110 he was purchased by Messrs MacNiven from Glenfarg, Perth.
