Jacob Scottish Regional Show & Sale

The Scottish Regional Show & Sale held at St Boswells Mart on Saturday saw a top price of 900gns achieved for a ewe lamb.

This 2nd prize winning lamb was consigned by S Harries who had travelled all the way from Llandeilo in Carmarthenshire to attend the sale. Hope 166046 was sired by Overdale Robert Price and out of a homebred ewe by Hope Highland Laddie and she was purchased by Messrs Locker from Duns.

Top price ewe lamb – 900gns

Messrs Harries also sold the next two best females, firstly a homebred ewe sired by Hope Highland Laddie who went for 750gns. She was purchased by Messrs Duncan from Cumnock.

This was followed by the 2rd prize ewe lamb from the same home Hope 166754, sired by Pike Field Braveheart and out of a Hyndshaw Flash daughter, she was purchased by Messrs Messrs Barton and Harrison from Grange-Over-Sands.

Rams sold to 750gns on two occasions, firstly for a lamb from Ewen MacMillan’s Luruha flock. This was Luruha Lambeosaurus who was sired by Pentrenant Pimms and out of a Northlands bred ewe. This lamb was purchased by local breeders Messrs Harper from Hawick.

Also selling at 750gns was the 1st prize ram lamb and Overall Champion at the pre-sale show Hope Grand Slam again from Messrs Harries. This stand out lamb was sired by Hope Rocky Boy and out of another homebred ewe by the prolific Highland Laddie. The successful bidder on this occasion was Messrs Beatty from Co Tyrone, Northern Ireland.

Overall Champion

The 1st prize shearling ram and Reserve Overall Champion from regular consignor MW Harper sold for 720gns. This ram Harbell Harper was sired by Arkleside Dudley and out of a Harbell ewe by Gowanbank Drummie. He was purchased by Messrs Christie from Huntly, Aberdeenshire.

Messrs Connor and Dalrymple of the Dunmor flock sold their 2nd prize winning ram lamb for 680gns. This was Dumor Futter who had been shown successfully this year including wins at the Royal Highland and Haddington shows. Futter was sired by Edingale Hickory and out of a homebred ewe by Dunmor Ace and went to be purchased by Messrs Wilson from Seascale, Cumbria.

The same vendor was also responsible for the 2nd prize shearling ram who sold for 650gns to Messrs Arthur from Waterbeck, Lockerbie. This was Dunmor 165193 sired by Dunmor Ace and out of a homebred ewe by Rill Brazil.
