11th March 2019

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their Annual Kirkby Classic Prize Show and Sale of store and potential show cattle when 676 cattle were on offer.

Topping the sale at £3400 was a black Limousin cross heifer offered by John Smith-Jackson of Haltwhistle.  This eye catching heifer was sired by the registered Limousin bull, Shire Apollo and out of a British Blue cross cow by Bluegrass Cyclone. She was secured by David Barker for a client.

The presale show which witnessed the strongest entry of 56 potential show calves being put in front of our judge Mr Andrew Dickinson, Ashbourne who had an unenviable task to carry out.

Clinching the top award at the pre sale judging was a British Blue cross heifer shown by John Smith-Jackson from Haltwhistle.  This 11 month old black heifer is a daughter of the registered British Blue bull, Tweeddale Guinness, and is out of a pure bred Limousin cow. She later sold for £3200 with the judge backing his judgment and successful purchasing the heifer.
