Centre Record Price at Kirkby Classic Shwo & Sale

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen Mart held their Annual Kirkby Classic show and sale of store and potential show cattle when a catalogued entry of 671 head were on offer.

Topping the sale and taking a centre record here at Kirkby Stephen of £6000 was the Overall Champion, an 8 month old Limousin cross heifer sired by Plumbtree Fantastic which was consigned by local cattle enthusiasts Messrs D&CE Marston, Easegill Head, Kirkby Stephen with the heifer’s new home been found with C Williams & P Tippetts, Shifnal.

The Reserve Overall Championship went to the first placed unhaltered British Blue cross steer from Messrs WA&GR Sedgley, Low Bank House, Barbon which went on to sell for £1400 to Messrs Barnett, Brinns Farm, Shap.

The “Kirkby Classic” saw one of the best quality shows of cattle turned out here at Kirkby Stephen with Mr I McNee, Misterton, Doncaster professionally and decisively carrying out the Judging.

Next selling for £2800 was the third placed 8 month old Haltered Heifer from Messrs Smith-Jackson, Hightown, Haltwhistle which went on to sell to Messrs Wilkinson & Marwood, Markey Place, Leyburn.

Trade throughout the sale for store cattle was fantastic, with over 60 active buyers from nearly all the full length and breadth of the country being in attendance.
