Kirkby Stephen NEMSA Show & Sale of Mule Gimmer Lambs

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Kirkby Stephen mart held their annual prize NEMSA show and sale of Gimmer Lambs on Friday 14th September, where a catalogued entry of 11,677 lambs were on offer.

Topping the sale at £320 was the overall champion pen of 10 Gimmer lambs which received the Late C Jackson Trophy were consigned by local breeders Messrs H R Hayton, Asby Grange, Great Asby this great pen of lambs went on to sell to Messrs Batty, Endmoor.  Our show judges were Mr Phillip Elliott, Mungrisdale and Mr Niall Dallas from Glympton Farms with Mr Graeme Jackson acting as referee, they had a difficult task in selecting their winners from a great show of 14 pens on display.

Good strong pens of tupping lambs were still in strongest demand with these types witnessing the least drop on the year with many reporting of £10 and less down.  Smarter headed, well bred running lambs were also still a nice trade with lighter headed, plainer running lambs being the least in demand.

A very respectable overall sale average of £86.44 was achieved (-£16.52).
50 Pens of lambs sold between £120 and £320.
