On Wednesday 1st August 2018 Harrison and Hetherington Ltd held their opening sale of store sheep. An increased entry of over double the sheep on the year drew one of the biggest crowds of buyers ever seen at this sale.
Lambs, although smaller than last year, came forward in good heart, all classes were keenly bid for with Mule lambs in particular being a cracking trade averaging £54.73 a head.
The sale topped at £68 per head for a pen of Texel lambs from Mr C P Robson, Taylor Burn. Mule lambs sold to £56 from Messrs R H & E M Lord, The Bog. A feature of the sale was a wonderful consignment of long keep Texel cross lambs from Cannerheugh Farm which sold to £58 a head.
