Lockerbie Main Sale of North Country Cheviot Hill Females

At Lockerbie on Wednesday 26th September, Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, held the annual sale of North Country Cheviot Hill rams and females where a magnificent entry of 4694 females were sold.

Hill draft ewes sold to £138 for a smart pen from Messrs WD Allen, Stouphill, Alnwick.  Gimmers sold to £155 from Kelsocleugh Farming, Yetholm and £152 from Maidencottes. Ewe lambs sold to £152 from Raehills Farms Ltd, St Anns Bridge

Also featuring in the sale was a dispersal on behalf of J Strawhorn and Son, Annefield where ewes sold to £135 and the entire flock averaged an outstanding £123.84.

A gimmer kindly donated by Messrs WD Allen, Stouphill was auctioned for the My Name5 Doddie Foundation. Billy Allen bought the sheep for £200 then it was resold again at £1300 to Mr B Colker, Knowehead of Auld Alan, Kirriemuir. A grand total of £1500 was raised for the charity and a huge thank you must go to the Allen family for putting the sheep forward for auction.
