On Tuesday 12th May Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their fortnightly sale of store cattle.
Once again cattle surpassed vendors expectation and trade remains as strong as the previous sale. Bullocks topped at £1140 for an outstanding Limousin from Messrs Holliday, Crawthat. Other Limousin bullocks were up to £1100 from Messrs Wilson, Belzies and £1090 for another from Messrs Wilson, Belzies. Messrs Halliday, Crawthat also had British Blue bullocks at £1000 and £940. Shorthorn bullocks topped at £1055 from Messrs Lockhart, Greenbeck. Heifer trade was also very pleasing. Aberdeen Angus topped at £1000 for a pen of 5 from Messrs Jardine, Newbigging. Limousin heifers sold up to £1145 again from Messrs Wilson, Belzies and the same home also had a heifer at £1100.
Bullocks averaged 227ppk overall and heifers 215ppk. Aberdeen Angus were bid up to 254ppk for a pen of 5 bullocks from Messrs Scott, Dinley and heifers from the same young batch achieved 258ppk. Charolais bullocks sold up to 260ppk for a cracking pen of 3 from Messrs Goldie, Skipmyre
