On Tuesday 3rd September Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their fortnightly sale of store cattle at Lockerbie Auction Mart.
Stores remained a steady trade in todays current uncertain climate. Despite the poor fat trade buyers are still coming out in numbers in search of cattle. This bodes well for our up and coming suckled calf sale on 1st October.
Charolais bullocks topped at £1050 from Messrs Laurie, Carterton who also had a pen of 4 at £950 and a younger pair at £925. Simmental bullocks also sold well with Messrs Richardson, Purdomstone top making £900 and his top Aberdeen Angus made £890. Purdomstone’s Limousin heifer sold to £840 on the day. Aberdeen Angus bullocks sold up to 202ppk for a nice pen from M Taylor, Fingland.
All things considered there is a certain optimism in the air for the October calf sales and a healthy ring side of buyers in need of cattle. Please advise entries for Tuesday 1st October to the auctioneers Joel McGarva 07909985770, Michael Stewart 07753720323 or Cameron Robertson 07836233042.
