Middleton In Teesdale Annual Prize Show & Sale of Store Cattle

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd, Middleton-in-Teesdale mart held their May prize show and sale of Breeding and Store Cattle. A entry of 102 stores were present alongside 22 cows with calves at foot.

The morning began with glorious sunshine which brightened everyone’s spirits.

The early morning show was eagerly anticipated and was won by Nigel & Nicola Foster of the Birch Bush which won the Championship and received the Steyr Cup when on to sell to a total of £1210 to JR Gardiner, Bridlington. This stylish Limousin steer was of real quality and showed great style in the show ring.

Coming in the Reserve position and receiving the Copley Coal Trophy was again another stylish steer, this time coming from MW & E Dent, Wythes Hill. This animal went on to sell for £1000 to Mr Robinson of Darlington.

The autumn calving proportion of Messrs Meeson, Bowes Close Farm, Harwood was dispersed on the day which saw some fantastic quality outfits from this local Teesdale Hill farm being put on offer, with buyers turning out to show their support.
