STORE & BREEDING CATTLE

On Tuesday 29th October Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their Annual Prize Show & Sale of Store Cattle & Suckled Calves within Middleton In Teesdale Mart.

A good show of 130 was forward and met with a fantastic trade throughout. Topping the sale was the Overall Champion from JC & J White, Rigg Farm selling for £1190 to Messrs Smith. This steer also won the prize kindly donated by Mr Michael Cannon for the best animal owned by a Wemmergill Estate Tenant.

Reserve Champion was from the same home, this time for a heifer going on to sell for £1095 to the judge Mr Chris Bell, Long Marton.

Winning the Lord Barnard award was N & A Bainbridge, Laneside for a very flashy steer that went on to sell for £1040 also to Mr Smith.

A good show of cattle were forward with a good trade throughout, A lot more could have been sold to vendors advantage.

Cows and calves were in good demand with top price of the day from Tom & Kay Hutchinson, Bail Hill selling a second calver with Limousin x heifer calf at foot selling for £2100 to Richard & Helen Scott, Foragarth.

A good show of late breeding sheep with ewes being very dear. A pen from Messrs Gibson, Marshes Gill selling for £100(x2) to Mr Bell, Irthington. Lambs topped at £45 from Burncroft Farms
