Newark English Premier Simmental Show & Sale

The Supreme Champion at the Simmental Cattle Society English Premier Show & Sale held at Newark Livestock market, secured the leading price of 4300gns.

Aptly named, Midhope I Am The Best, was a standout winner at the pre-sale judging in the morning.  This maiden heifer, sired by Woodhall Everhart and out of the homebred cow Midhope Amber, was shown by regular supporters Messrs Hollingsworth of Sheffield.  The successful bidder was SW Smith of Alfreton, Derbyshire.

Following at 2800gns were two bull entries.  The first to feature was Heathbrow Infamous a 2nd prize winner offered by DA & LA Sapsed.  This junior bull, a son of Heathbrow Grand Slam and out of a Curaheen Tyson bred Dirnanean mother, carries a pedigree full of noted bloodlines.  He sold to Baumber Park Farms Ltd of Lincoln.

Heathbrow Infamous – 2800gns

A couple of lots later the second bull entry to sell for 2800gns was Burghbridge Isaiah shown by CLG Clarke & Ptrs.  Isaiah won his class and also received the reserve male championship ticket, is sired by 10,000gn Corskie Freddy and out of a Brinkton Major bred cow family.  He was knocked down to RG Taylor & Sons of Skegness, Lincs.

A cow and calf unit followed next in the price listing selling for 2600gns.  Sold by Nigel Darling, Lopemede Wheat, a 3rd calver, with her September 2018 born heifer calf at foot was purchased by CF Parker of Darlington, Co.Durham.  Wheat, a daughter of Hestehaven Ebenhard and out of Lopemede Wheat Ear was sold in calf to Blue Cedar Horatio.

A further two females both sold for 2200gns.  First to sell was another cow & calf outfit also from Nigel Darling.  This was a second calver, Blue Cedar Echo with her heifer calf at foot.  Echo is sired by Wroxall Abacus and her mother is by the imported sire Hestehaven Ebenhard.  She also sells in calf to Blue Cedar Horatio and was knocked down to Messrs Sorrell of Chesterfield, Derbyshire.

The second female to reach the 2200gn mark was a maiden heifer shown by Messrs Clarke.  The homebred entry, Burghbridge Henrietta 11th, a daughter of Corskie Freddy and out of the Henrietta cow family, she sold to PA Cade of Buckden, North Yorkshire.
