Newark Special Spring Commercial Cattle Sale

After the pedigree sales of British Blues and Limousin cattle on Saturday held at Newark Livestock Market, the commercial section of the sale drew a great entry of over 250 cattle forward for sale.  A packed ringside of buyers, which included several new faces, ensured all classes met a flying trade throughout.

Topping the sale at £4400 was a fantastic black 17 month old British Blue cross Limousin bull consigned by RD & DL Hutchinson Ltd of Balderton, Newark.  This outstanding bull was  by the imported sire, Coutois, and was sold to R & S Knights of Norfolk.

Commercial cows with calves at foot sold to £3000 for a British Blue cross cow with her 7 month old heifer calf at foot.  This eye catching outfit was shown by Messrs Cummings of Sutton Coldfield and was purchased by Anita Padfield of Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.

Store cattle sold to extreme rates throughout for all classes, leaving all vendors delighted with their returns.  Topping the sale at £1520 was a fabulous 12 month old black British Blue cross heifer consigned by Messrs Holmes of Skellingthorpe and was knocked down to Messrs Burden of Kettering.

Bullocks sold to a top price of £1260 for a 12 month old Limousin cross also from Messrs Holmes.  This shapey bullock was sold to Messrs Sharman of Bedford.  In the steer section, plenty of 10-12 month old steers sold at between £1100-£1200.

Store bulls topped at £1260 for an 18 month old British Blue cross offered by Messrs Green of Brigg and was purchased by Messrs Chapman of Bedale.

Many more cattle could have been sold to vendors advantage.
