North Country Cheviot Hill Ram Sale

At Lockerbie on Wednesday 23rd September, Harrison and Hetherington held their annual Sale of Hill Rams on behalf of the North Country Cheviot Sheep Society.

The Sale topped at £9000 for the second ram in the Benger flock from Messrs JF Irving & Son. Benger X (13183) was sired by a Woodside ram and sold to Kelsocleugh Farming, Kelso.

The Hownam Grange flock of Messrs W & J Thomson, sold Hownam Grand Xavier to £7000. This Newbank Spitfire sired son was purchased Messrs Adams, Angus.

A further two rams also sold to £7000, firstly Commonside X-Factor, consigned by WW Dunlop & Son. A son of Philiphaugh Target, who now joins the Hownam Grange flock. Followed by W & F Elliot with Hethpool Xpat, a twin born son of Hethpool Tower, going to Messrs Taylforth, Penrith, Cumbria.

Sorbietrees Farm Ltd first ram in his pen sold to the next top of £6000. Sorbietrees X Rated is sired by a homebred ram and went home with Messrs Tweedie & Co, Buchtrig, Jedburgh.

A magnificent entry of rams were very keenly sought after, with 278 averaging £1055.97 (+£60.37) for 28 more sold.
