On Saturday 20th April Harrison & Hetherington Ltd held their annual spring sale of Poultry, Waterfowl, Hatching Eggs, Equipment and Pigs.
A catalogued entry of 711 lots of poultry and waterfowl, 315 lots of hatching eggs and 77 items of equipment was presented to a crowd of buyers from throughout Scotland, all areas of England and Wales, also Northern Ireland.
Two lots sold for the top price of £300 both from the large fowl section. The first of these was a pair of Black Orpingtons from Mark Rangeley that were purchased by Messrs McLaren from Omagh, Northern Ireland.
Also at £300 was a pair of Light Sussex from M & C Dickinson which were purchased by Messrs Cuthbert from Kinross, Fife.
The True Bantam section topped at £260 for a trio of White Pekins from JM Richardson and purchased by Messrs Gardiner from Cleghorn, Lanark. Messrs Gardiner also purchased another two from the same vendor, this time White Pekin Pullets for £220.
A trio of Fawn and White Runner ducks topped the large duck section selling for £160 from F Frame
The hatching eggs sold to a top of £120 for a dozen Appleyard and the equipment section topped at £180 twice for two goose houses. In the pig classes a Saddleback Gilt sold for the top price of £120.
