Roussin Sheep Society Show & Sale

The annual Roussin Sheep Society Show and Sale at Carlisle saw a top price of 1300gns achieved for the 1st prize shearling ram and Overall Champion BDS H0404 from Derek Steen’s Ballylinney flock. This ram was sired by the Stairhaven bred C452 and out of a McCornick bred dam.

Overall Champion

Next at 1100gns was a ram lamb from Martin McCornick’s flock MPM J5402 sired by McCornick Heinz and out of a home bred dam. This lamb had won 2nd prize in the pre-sale show and went on to be purchased by Messrs Young from Girvan.

Messrs Young also purchased another from Martin McCormick at 950gns. This was the lamb MPM J5378, a substitute entry sired by the homebred D1979.

Derek Steen sold another at 1000gns, this was H0412 the 2nd prize shearling also sired by Stairhaven C452. This ram was purchased by Messrs Reid from Annan.

Females sold to a top of 400gns on three occasions. Two of these were shearling gimmers from Derek Steen, both sired by Stairhaven E227 and both purchased by Messrs Edgar from Newry, Co Down.

The third to sell at 400gns was Martin McCornick’s 1st prize shearling gimmer and Reserve Overall Champion H4802 who was again purchased by Messrs Young from Girvan.
