The sale from Rhy Cooke’s Nantyderri Blue Texel flock on Friday saw an outstanding overall sale average of £1106.42.
Top price of the day was 3000gns which was achieved on two occasions, first for a 2016 born ewe out of the former Royal Welsh and Three Counties show champion Pen-T-Bec Vera and sired the Bishops ram ARB/10/00502. Then for the first shearling gimmer in to the ring Nantyderri Babe who was also out of Vera but this time sired by Hackney Xtrovert. These two were both purchased by Eastbury Livestock from Blandford, Dorset.
The best of the ewe lambs was Nantyderri Carla who sold for 2800gns. This lamb was sired by Hackney 1391 a son of Joe’s Alvin and out of a Pistyll bred ewe. She was purchased on the day by Messrs McCulloch from Bathgate.
Eastbury Livestock added to their flock once again when they purchased another shearling gimmer in Nantyderri Bella-Rose. Sired Whatmore Walnut and out Hackeny Yarra this gimmer had been shown successfully as a lamb and caught the eye again sale day when she sold for 2600gns.
Another daughter of the flock’s stock ram Whatmore Walnut sold for the next best price of 2500gns. This was Nantyderri Beck’s who was purchased by Messrs Bowring from Mansfield, Nottingham.
A further five animals sold for 2000gns or above, at 2200gns was a 2016 born ewe again by Whatmore Walnut and out of Pistyll ewe who won 1st prize ewe lamb and Reserve Champion at Carlisle in 2014. She was purchased by Messrs Gray from Selkirk.
Also at 2200gns was the ram lamb Nantyderri Corbin who was sired by Hackney Xtrovert and out of a Millend bred ewe. He was purchased by Messrs Barclay from Aberdeenshire.
