The Scottish Regional Sale held at St Boswells Mart on Saturday saw a top price of 1000gns for the first shearling gimmer into the ring. This gimmer 166520 from Ewan McMillan’s Luruha flock was sired by Harbell Lincoln and out of a Cavers bred dam. She was purchased by Messrs Harkin from Co Tyrone, Northern Ireland.
Also on the way to Northern Ireland was Ewan’s second gimmer 166519 who was purchased by Messrs Beatty also from Co Tyrone for 550gns. This gimmer was also sired by Harbell Lincoln but this time out of a Deanburn bred dam by Pentrenant Acorn.
Messrs Beaty purchased another gimmer at 550gns this time from Melanie Harper’s Deanburn flock. This gimmer 167588 was sired by Hope Rocket and out of a Arnydie bred ewe sired by Arnydie Hafod.
Best of the ewe lambs also came from Ewan McMillan when he sold Luruha 169548 for 450gns. She was also sired by Harbell Lincoln and out of a Northlands bred ewe by Mayhill Laddie. The successful bidder on this lot was Messrs Jones from Builth Wells, Wales.
Ewan McMillan reinvested some of his day’s earnings when he purchased the top price ram for 550gns. This was Adam Christie’s ram lamb Adamski Leonard sired by Hope Knock Out and out of a homebred dam by Dunmor Antonio.
Best of the shearling rams was Deanburn Daniel consigned by Messrs Strang-Steel. Originally bred by Melanie Harper this ram was sired by Hope Rocket and out of a Hurrsdale ewe. He was purchased by Blackcruik Farming from Berwickshire.
