Special May Show and Sale of Continental Cross Store Cattle and weekly sale of Weaned Cattle

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd had forward 2018 head at their Weekly Wednesday Sale, comprising of 1309 catalogued Store Cattle in the Special May Show & Sale, 392 Store Bulls and Stirks and 317 Calves.

STORE CATTLE – A tremendous entry of cattle in every section met a marvellous trade from start to finish with buyers forward in numbers for all classes.

This special May show and sale of store cattle attracted an unbelievable entry of 1309 head, with a total of 2018 cattle in the market.

The pre-sale show was ably judged by local expert Mr Andrew Graham of Wigton who awarded the Champion rosette to the 1st prize heifer shown by Messrs Vance of Bridge House, Newton Stewart.  This outstanding Limousin cross heifer went on to top the sale at £1410 and sold to Mr Declan Foley of Capheaton.

Overall Champion – Bridgehouse Farming – £1410

Standing in reserve position was the 2nd prize heifer, this time a purebred Limousin shown by Mr Bruce Goldie of Townfoot, Mouswald.  She sold for £1330 to Mr Roger Webster of Ormskirk.

The sale attracted a huge ringside of buyers with 128 active accounts, with buyers for all classes of cattle ensuring all vendors left Carlisle delighted yet again.

Bullocks sold to £1340 for an exceptional pen of 3 Limousins shown by Messrs J Hunter & Sons, Steel Farm, Bellingham with this run of 35 12-14 month old bullocks and heifers averaging a staggering £1193.85.

All in all a hugely successful day, a massive thank you to all vendors and purchasers.
