Stevenson’s Ayrshire Dispersal Sale

23rd October 2019

RED IMPLUSE TOPS AT STEEVSON’S DISPERSAL

Ayrshire breeders from across the UK packed Borderway, Carlisle to witness the dispersal of the Stevenson’s Ayrshire herd.  The Stevenson family have been breeding top quality Ayrshire cattle since the early 1900’s winning Royal Shows and many other National events over the years.  Trade topped at 3,200gns with the overall average coming to almost £1250 with 15 selling for or more than £2000.

Topping the sale at 3,200gns was Stevenson’s Buttercup 82, who was sired by the Alchemy son of the two times European Champion Irene EX97.  Her dam was the Very Good 89-pointed Trump Card daughter who gave over 12000kgs as a five-year-old.  This powerful framed in-calf heifer was due soon and was purchased by local Ayrshire breeder Mr McCulloch from Stranraer.

Stevenson’s Bunty 114 sold for 2,500gns to the Howie family from Stranraer.  She was milking in her sixth lactation and had classified Excellent 94 following her two Grand Championship wins at the Stranraer Show in 2016 and 2017.  Her two sons by Stevenson’s Argo and Brieryside Snowman sold in absentee and both sold for 1,500gns. Her two daughters by Ayr-Phoe Ideostar both due with their third calves in April sold for 1,500gns.

Stevenson’s Bunty 114 EX94-2E – Sold for 2500gns

The Bunty cow family attracted strong interest and following the sale of the Excellent 94 show cow, it was the turn of Stevenson’s Bunty 154 to find her way into the top price list.  She was sired by Wynford BD Appleman Red and was bred from three Excellent dams all with over 60-ton lifetime.  She sold freshly calved for 2,350gns to Mr Donald from Carlisle.

Two freshly calved heifers were purchased by New Barns Farms, Newton Stewart for 2,300gns.  First for Stevenson’s Bunty 164 and the second was Stevenson’s Linzi 18 both were sired by Stevenson’s Dependable.

Stevenson’s Outline sired several high-priced animals including Stevenson’s White Lady who was bred of a high butterfat and protein line.  She sold for 2,300gns to volume buyer A&R Patton from Falkirk.

The Stevenson family would like to thank everyone you attended their sale and wish the purchasers all the best with their new cattle.  They would also like to thank all the neighbours and friends who helped in the run up to the sale and in the pre-sale preparation.
