Suffolk In Lamb Show & Sale

The 1st prize ewe lamb and Reserve Overall Champion from Pamela Lupton’s Kexbeck flock sold for the top price of the day at the annual Suffolk in lamb sale at Carlisle on Friday.

This was KXL:18:00433 sired by the 2015 Shrewsbury Champion Rhaeadr Reggae I and out of a homebred ewe who won 2nd prize gimmer at the Great Yorkshire Show in 2016.  She was purchased for 1000gns by Messrs Wilkie from Lockerbie.

Lilburn Estates Farming Partnership were responsible for the next best price. This was the shearling gimmer Roseden G34:17:65328 who sold for 720gns. She was sired by Landale Xtra-Special and sold in lamb to Harpercroft Addition. The successful purchaser was Messrs Coulthard & Son from Longtown.

Three lots sold for 700gns, all consigned by the Roseden flock. The first of these was the 1st prize shearling gimmer G34:17:65301 sired by Ballynacannon Attitude who was purchased by Messrs Patterson & Son from Capheaton.  The same buyer also bought G34:17:65262 a Rookery Union Jack sired gimmer at the same money.

The final gimmer to sell at 700gns was G34:17:65244 sired by Drummie Upstart. She was purchased by Messrs Drummond from Mauchline.

The 2nd prize shearling gimmer G34:17:65278 also from Lilburn Estates and sired by Ballynacannon Attitude sold for the next best price of 680gns, she was also off to Ayrshire when she was purchased by Messrs Matthewson from Kilmarnock.

Paula and David Reid’s Conchar flock sold JDX:17:01008, a shearling gimmer by Perrinpit High Peak for 600gns. This gimmer out of a homebred ewe by Newwells Olympic Gold was also purchased by Messrs Drummond.
