Three Nations Suffolk Sale

The annual 3-Nations Female Sale once again attracted much interest with an outstanding show of females forward.

The sale featured consignments from regular flocks Solwaybank (Ian & Judith Barbour), Ballynacannon (Dennis Taylor), Limestone (Mark Priestley) and Crewelands (Stephen Sufferin) along with guest consignments from Pyeston (Stewart Lathangie), Burnview  (S & W Tait), Bridgeview (DP & RA Delves), Rhaeadr (Myfyr Evans) and Strathbogie (James Innes).

Topping the sale at 6800gns was a gimmer from James Innes’ consignment Strathbogie SUT:17:01504 sired by Lakeview No Limits and out of a homebred Muirton One Direction daughter who is a full sister to 16,000gns Strathbogie Sirius.  She sold scanned in lamb to Forkins Dizzie Rascal and the successful purchased was Messrs Priestley from Northern Ireland.

The Strathbogie flock also achieved the best average of the day – £4410 for the five gimmers sold. Contributing to this was a full sister to their top price gimmer SUT:17:01522 who sold for 4200gns. She was also sold in lamb to Forkins Dizzee Rascal and purchased by Messrs Martindale from Bolton.

A further two gimmers from the Strathbogie flock sold for 4000gns, SUT:17:01527 sired by Strathisla Speed and SUT:17:01512 by Strathbogie A Kind Of Magic, both had been scanned in lamb to Forkins Dizzee Rascal.

Dennis Taylor’s first ewe lamb into the ring sold for 5400gns to Messrs Owen from Gwynedd. This was Ballynacannon KKW:18:00943 who was sired by 8000gns Lakeview Innuendo and out of the flock’s great breeding ewe 12:039 who has bred many successful progeny.

The best of the Ballynacannon gimmers was KKW:17:00863 sired by Solwaybank Master Debater and out of the Ballynacannon Big Den daughter 14:00504. This gimmer had been scanned in lamb to Malinhead Maverick and sold for 5000gns to Messrs Cobbald, Acton, Suffolk.

Mark Priestley’s Limestone flock achieved an impressive gimmer average of £3596 for the four sold and topped at 4500gns for the Castleisle Knockout sired KPC:17:00817 who was purchased by Messrs Turkington from Northern Ireland. This gimmer was out of a Strathbogie bred ewe by Ballynacanon Commander and was sold scanned in lamb to the top priced Suffolk of 2018 40,000gns Limestone Aston Martin.

Selling for 4000gns from the Limestone flock was KPC:17:00804 a full ET sister to 9500gns Limestone Legacy sired by Strathbogie A Kind of Magic and out of the Forkins bred ewe AOR:14:01201. This gimmer, in lamb to Forkins Dizzee Rascal, was also purchased by Messrs Owen from Gwynedd.

Stephanie & William Tait’s T86:17:001120 was the best from the Burnview flock when she sold for 4500gns to Messrs Delves, Churchstoke, Powys. This gimmer was sired by Ballynacanon Attitute and out of the homebred 13:075 who has bred very successfully for the flock.

Crewelands PWN:17:00703 topped Stephen Sufferin’s consignment when selling for 4200gns to Messrs Taylor from Northern Ireland. This daughter of 20,000gns Ballynacannon Taylor Made was out of one of the flock’s favorite ewes 15:00475 who has been a very consistent breeder and sold scanned in lamb to Birness Playboy.

The first Crewelands gimmer into the ring sold for 4000gns, also sired by Taylor Made and out of a homebred dam by Birness Bravado she was another to be joining Messrs Cobbard’s Suffolk based flock.

The small consignment of four gimmers from the Solwaybank flock sold to a top of 2800gns for FHT:17:01480 sired by Bridgeview Tuffin and sold scanned in lamb to Stockton Shpock. The successful bidder on this occasion was the Portugal based Suffolk Do Pinheiro.

Stewart Lathangie’s Pyeston flock achieved 2500gns for the flock’s 2018 show gimmer LVL:17:00386 who was sired by Solwaybank Titan and out of a homebred Ardlea Champion sired ewe who was a maternal sister to 24,000gns Pyeston Legacy. This gimmer sold scanned in lamb to 10,000gns Burnview Bombay Sapphire.

The large consignment from Myfyr Evan’s Rhaeadr flock topped at 2000gns for his first ewe lamb forward A12:18:01918 sired by the flock’s retained stock ram Rhaeadr Raring To Go and out of a Rookery Best Of The Best daughter A12:15:01206 this lamb was purchased by Messrs Oare, Brynford, Hollywell.
