On Friday 24th and Saturday 25th August the Blacknose Valais Sheep Society held their annual National Blacknose Beauties show and sale at Carlisle which had a huge entry for 195 sheep.
Raymond Irvine and Jenni McAllister triumphed again, this time with their Ram Highland Eric who was crowned Supreme Champion by the Swiss Judges Josef Eyer and Stefan Schnidrig.
Reserve Champion went to Tim Dunne’s Westmorland Dilly. Highland Ebony and Westmorland Frankie were Reserve Female and Reserve Male.
Raymond and Jenni also topped the sale prices with Highland Egbert selling to the New Zealand Valais Blacknose Sheep Society for 10,000gns. They also purchased 2016 born ewes Highland Diamond and Highland Deedee for 5,000gns and 4000gns.
Tim Dunne sold Westmorland Follie Bergere for 3,500gns and Westmorland Fred for 3,200gns. Other notable sales were Henry and Emily Duncan’s ewe lamb Whitehall Esther for 2,600gns, Jenni and Raymond’s gimmer Highland Faye for 2,400gns and Jamie Wood’s ewe lamb Prendwick Esther for 2,400gns.
