Whinchat Dairy Sale

SAVOIRE FARE TOPS AT WHINCHAT

The Whinchat herd has been expertly developed by Andrew Birkle throughout his farming carer winning the Premier Herd title in 2017 was one of his greatest achievements.  The cow families on offer in this special sale were impeccable from lot 1 which featured a special young cow, Whinchat Dreams Star who sold for 4,200gns bred from seven generations of Excellent dams with the first three all Excellent 93.

Topping the sale at 8,500gns was Whinchat Unix Savoire Fare and once again bred from a special pedigree, some say the best pedigree in the world.  Her maternal line included ten generations averaging EX94.4 points.  It is the only pedigree in the breed to feature 1 EX97, 2 EX96 & 3 EX95 cows.  She was purchased by the O’Connor family from Cork in the Rep. of Ireland.

The Savoire Fare family was the big attraction in this pedigree extravaganza and selling for 7,800gns was a sister to top seller, Whincaht Atwood Saviore Fare going to the well known Dutch breed Cees De Jong owner of the Jongsteins herd.  This recently calved two year old displayed enormous potential to develop into a special cow being blessed with a mammary that flirted with perfection.

The best uddered cow in the sale sold for 7,700gns going to the Thomas family from Llancwm.  Whinchat Dreams Amy was recently calved in her second, her 5th dam was Sunnylodge Skychief Amy.

The Molli Red cow family at several very attractive Red & White animals on offer and selling at 7,200gns was Whinchat Integral Molli Red.  This stylish young cow was scored VG88 and was purchased by one of the rising stars from N. Ireland, going to Mr McCorry from Armagh.

In total 25 animals sold for £4,000 or more with a further 49 selling for £3,000 or above.  Animals went to six countries and to 26 counties across the UK and Ireland with online bidding once again playing an important role.
