Whitebred Shorthorn Autumn Show & Sale

Quality animals were forward for the show and sale run by Harrison & Hetherington on 9th November 2018. The judge, Mr James Medland from Tavistock, Devon, kindly taking up the appointment cancelled in the spring, due to the weather in early March.

First in the bull class and overall Breed Champion was Parton Royal Casino bred by Messrs Hewson, by their stock bull Northwood William, out of Parton Suzanna 71st. Second in the bull class was a very pleasing Spring View George William bred by Mr C J Jeffrey by Longley Talisman out of Lochdochart Snowfall 13th. Third place was awarded to another very nice bull from the herd of Mr G Jackson, Blackburn Gambler, by Byers Hall Diamond out of Blackburn Blondie.

The heifer classes (born on or before 11th April 2017) and (born on or after 12th April 2017 had two animals forward for each class. In the older class first place and Best Female, went to Barlaes Heatherbell 14th bred by Mr R McTurk, by Blackburn Thumper out of Barlaes Heather Bell 7th. Second place Stroneskar Pegasus from Mr A McNair & Son, by Stroneskar Rocky out of Ben Ledi Duchess 2nd. Heifers in the younger class were placed, first, Whintingstown Hilary, from R M & C M Leach, by Whintingstown Ben out of Corrie Ruby 6th. Second place to Hole-of-Lyne Shona 9th by Hole-of-Lyne Duke out of Hole-of-Lyne Shona 2nd from Mr R Telford.

The sale realised some good prices. Parton Casino Royale, Breed Champion sold to Mr Owens of Kilkenny, for 2,000gns. The top selling heifer Stroneskar Pegasus sold at 3,300gns to Mr Haggas of Skipton, North Yorkshire. Travelling also to Skipton was Softley Hannah bred by T D & M Moore by Ben Ledi Snow King 3rd out of Stonehouse Hannah.
