Wormanby Autumn Youngstock Sale

The Wormanby Holstein herd ranks with the very best Holstein herds in Europe and was the UK Premier Herd winner in 2015.  Harry Hodgson established the herd back in the 80’s and his son David has developed the herd in recent years into and recognised brand name.  The herd comprises 200 exceptional animals with 75 Excellent, 112 Very Goods that includes 35 Very Good heifers.  Using sexed semen on a large percentage of the herd has been very successful enabling them to stage this special youngstock sale.

Prices topped at 5,200gns for Wormanby Lambda Britney who was purchased by Emerald Isle Genetics in the Rep. of Ireland.  Britney was sired by Lambda, her third dam is full sister to Butz-Butler Gold Barbara EX96 the 2019 World Dairy Expo Champion.

One of the stars in the sale was Wormanby Crushtime Amyly and she sold for 4,800gns again to Emerald Isle Genetics in the Rep. of Ireland.  Amyly is a daughter of Crushtime from the 2017 Swiss Expo Junior Champion, Bel Doorman Zita.  Zita recently classified maximum points in her second lactation, the next dam by Goldwyn is sister to the two-time Italian National Champion Toc-Farm Allen Amyly EX95.

Selling for 4,500gns was Wormanby Crushtime Flo who now joins the Espland herd near Appleby.  Her dam is Stowbeck At Flo EX92.  She is one of the current herd favourites and has sired serval sons that have all sold for over £4000.  Third dam in this attractive pedigree is Berryholme Posh Flo full sister to the 2010 National Champion Berryholme Shottle Flo.

Wormanby Crushtime Flo

The current herd icon is Wormanby Bottle Mahala EX95, she was the winning Production Cow at UK Dairy Expo in 2019 and is the dam of the popular show cow Wormanby Atwood Mahala EX93.  Selling for 4,000gns was a perfectly balanced granddaughter of Bottle Mahala sired by Chief and who now joins the Baltier Farming Company near Newton Stewart.

Sam Wake from the Blydale Holstein herd and partner in serval animals at Wormanby consigned some heifers in this sale and topped at 4,400gns for Blydale Mis Chief who was purchased by Simon Dowle from Cheshire.  This stylish Chief daughter’s grand dam is Blydale El Niro Missy who was Nominated All Britain Junior Cow in 2019

The next dairy sale at Borderway takes place on Wednesday 4th November and features over 300 dairy cattle in the Borderway Monthly Dairy Day sale.  This includes the final dispersal of the Little Float herd of Irish Friesian cows and heifers, also 30 pedigree Fleckvieh in calf heifers from D.
