Important dispersal sale of the
CALLYMAINS HOLSTEIN FRIESIAN HERD
for Cally Mains Ltd, Callymains, Gatehouse of Fleet

227 cows & heifers on milk or dry, 68 incalf heifers, 26 bulling heifers, 86 heifer calves up to 12 months old
Cally Mains Holstein Friesian herd impresses on all levels.  The herd ticks all the boxes on production, health, fertility and genetics.  98 heifers in milk, 52 cows in their second, 35 cows in their third, 25 fourth calvers and 13 having had five or more calves.  39 are freshly calved since May 2017.  There are 111 cows and heifers due Sept until Dec.  In addition there are 34 in-calf heifers due in 2017.  In total there are 68 in-calf heifers due from Sept until early spring and 26 strong bulling heifers.  There are 86 heifer calves up to a year old.   The herd is currently averaging 8645kg 3.94% butterfat 3.17% protein on twice a day milking with an average cell count of 132.  Latest milk recording herd averaged 26.52kgs. Currently the younger portion of the milking herd are sired by Coldsprings Gabe, Genus Janner, Cook Farm Detective, Pen-Col Drumbeat.
Herd Health – the herd is tested clear of BVD and is vaccinated for IBR and BVD.  Lepto is monitored using a bulk milk sample and the herd is clear.  Johnes has been screened four times a year and the herd has tested completely clear.  The herd is in a TB 4 year testing area and there has never been a case on the farm.  The last TB test was in January 2014.

This is the first sale to disperse the Cockleybank Herd and features all the freshly calved cows and heifers and all the pregnant and recently served cattle.  This is a quality herd of highly productive healthy cows.   There are 95 heifers in milk, 79 cows in their second, 64 cows in their third, 32 fourth calvers and 27 having had five or more calves.  80 fresh calvers sell.   The herd is currently averaging 8500kg 4.21% butterfat 3.43% protein on twice a day milking with an average cell count of 140.  From milk sold the herd is currently averaging 28.52kgs. This is a GMS bred herd, currently the younger portion of the milking herd is sired by Coldsprings Ponder, Bassingthorpe Bossman, Regancrest Beau, Ralma Gold Crown, Chalclyffe Ransom, Morningview Levi & Winning Way Canada.  This is a highly recommened herd of cows in excellent condition.
Herd Health The herd is vaccinated for IBR & BVD.  Lepto is monitored using a bulk milk sample and the herd is clear.  The herd is in the SAC Herd Health Scheme and all cows are blood tested for Johnes at drying off.  All animals are tested clear of Johnes.   The herd is in a TB 4 year testing area and there has never been a case on the farm.  The last TB test was in 2014.
