Borderway - The home of Champions!

Harrison & Hetherington believes winter show success is bred at Borderway

Champions of England, Scotland, Wales and Borderway Agri Expo! Harrison & Hetherington are today delighted to announce that its 2021 March Continental Cross Store cattle show and sale at Carlisle has produced all of the winners on this year’s Winter Show circuit.

The results speak for themselves, with all major prize winners at each of the national winter livestock fairs being originally purchased back in March at Borderway. This underlines that this is one of the foremost store cattle sales in the country.

The annual Continental Cross Store Cattle Show & Sale, which includes many show potential animals, sees in the region of 1000 head of stock going under the hammer. Now looking forward to the New Year, and 2022, H&H have today announced that the Special March Show and Sale, usually held at Borderway Mart mid-week, will be held on Friday 4th March & Saturday 5th March with the sale itself taking place on the Saturday.

Giving further background Auctioneer James Little said: “Livestock from Harrison and Hetherington’s sales centres have produced many red ribbon moments, and this year has seen them have unprecedented success. We were absolutely delighted in looking over the record books for the year to see that the 2021 March show and sale has provided such tremendous animals, and winners of all the major livestock events across the UK.”

The March sale has a special section for cattle with showing potential, and this produces a tremendous line up of entries, attracted from the length and breadth of the UK. This brings in both tremendous entries, and keen purchasers from equally far and wide looking specifically for cattle to take on the show circuit.

James continues:  “It has been a great delight to see so many of this year’s winners come out of our sales yards and in particular the special March show and sale in Borderway.  In 2022 this event will see us move to a new exciting format and is set to attract many more show potential animals from all over the UK”

Those going on to scoop awards at the winter fairs included:

  • Borderway Agri Expo 2021 - Champion Heifer & Overall Champion‘ Miss Dynamite’ from Harryman & Warriner ; Champion Steer - ‘Black Bomber’ from Little & Donaldson; and Reserve Champion Steer - ‘Call the Cops’ from Tippetts & Williams.
