BLUETONGUE MOVEMENT UPDATE – RELAXATION OF RESTRICTIONS

From 00.01hrs , Thursday 10^th September 2026, the Temporary Control Zone (TCZ) in south-west Scotland will become a Restricted Control Zone (RCZ) ,the same as England & Wales and movement restrictions will be relaxed.

Movement of livestock from a Restricted Zone (RCZ) to the free area of Scotland will be as follows:

Sheep, goats and most cattle will no longer require vaccination or a PCR test. A general license should be kept on file but is not required to travel these types of livestock.

WITH THE EXCEPTION

Breeding bulls and pregnant cows will still require a negative PCR test unless they meet the Bultavo-3 vaccination requirements.

Cattle are exempt from testing if they have completed their Bultavo-3 vaccination course, at least 21 days have passed and any required annual booster has been given.

Pregnant cows and heifers can be exempt if they completed their Bultavo-3 vaccination course before the current pregnancy began.

An appropriate license will be required for these movements, New movement licences will be published from 10th September for exceptions as stated above. Please ensure the correct licence and all relevant conditions are followed before moving livestock.

There will be no bluetongue movement controls between RCZ in Scotland, England & Wales.
