Borderway Weekly Sale of Calves

On Wednesday 1^st September Harrison and Hetherington held their weekly sale of 310 calves.   Trade continues to hold extremely well for strong calves and black and whites.  Younger continental calves would be slightly harder to cash.  Topping today’s sale at £585 for a cracking British Blue from Messrs Little, North Greenhill.  Heifers closely followed at £580 for a Limousin heifer from Messrs Preston, Wedholme House with his outstanding run of five Limousin heifer calves averaging £540.  Messrs Fisher, Smalmstown sold his run of 27 British Blue and Angus calves to average £474.  Dairy bred calves continue to sell well with younger fit calves selling regularly £80 to £140 and reared calves £220+ topping at £330 from Messrs Cathers, Stannock.
