Borderway Store & Weanling Cattle Sale

Borderway, Rosehill, Carlisle, CA1 2RS

On Wednesday 1st September Harrison & Hetherington had forward 1341 cattle at their weekly sale comprising of a catalogued entry of 420 Store Cattle, 191 Un-entered store bulls and weanlings, 310 Calves, and a large, catalogued entry of 393 Dairy cattle in the monthly Borderway dairy Day.

STORE CATTLE – At the weekly sale 420 store cattle were forward.  A very mixed bag of cattle all readily found homes with buyers to cover all types in Borderway.  Strong cattle continue to sell well to a sale topping £1640 which achieved on 2 occasions firstly from a Charolais x bullock from Messrs Udale, Sideway Bank, Penrith and also for a Limousin x bullock from Messrs Swan, Mid Locharwoods, Dumfries.  Natives sold to £1470 for Herefords from Messrs Spedding, Stoneflatts with Holstein to £1395 from Messrs Stamper, Rose Farm, Cockermouth.  Heifers saw a top of £1460 for a cracking Limousin x from Messrs Grice, Newtown.

WEANED CATTLE: Yet again a larger show of weaned cattle were forward with trade every bit as sharp as previous weeks.  The bulls were maybe slightly harder sold but quality was still well sought after topping at £1190 for a Limousin x from Messrs Ashley, Laitha Farm, Bolton.  Younger quality bulls also sold very well with a 9 month old Limousin selling for £1120 from Messrs Eve, Stubsgill, Wigton,

The clean cattle were also very well sold with a very good quality run of 8 from Messrs Rutter, Fartown, Alston topping at £1395 for a Limousin steer and heifers topping at £1300 and the run selling to average at £1308.13 for 8.

Topping the run of heifers was another Limousin heifer from Messrs Mccolm and Brewis, Awhirk Farm, Stranraer at £1335.  Many more weaned and store cattle are required each week so please do not hesitate to contact us.
