Lazonby Annual Show and Sale of Store Lambs

On Thursday 2^nd September at Lazonby Mart, Harrison & Hetherington held their annual show and sale of store lambs.

A massive entry of 2458 store lambs which included several new vendors were forward. Judge Mr John Graham, The Wreay, Wigton did a fine job working through the pens and made the following awards:

Champion: M/s Lee, Lintley Farm - £110
Reserve Champion: M/s Watson, Saunders Close - £91

The Champion pen was the 1st prize pen of Continental lambs shown by Mr Lee, Lintley, Slaggyford which sold to £110 per life to the Judge. Reserve Champion were the winning pen of Mules from Messrs Watson, Sanders Close, Alston which led their section at £91 per head.

An overall average of £83.27 was achieved with 1096 of these being Mules, which averaged an amazing £80.30 per head.

The sale topped at £130 for a pen of Beltex lambs from J & K Little, The Guards , who led the averages, selling to 26 to level at £121.68 per head.
